Our task in a media lesson was to create a table in which we wrote what skills we used in media. We used examples from my groups preliminary task and our opening sequence.
This clip is a brief introduction to what our table is all about.
My section which I explained was Cognitive Skills which we use in media.
This clip is Zak's rendition of interpersonal skills!
This clip is Anthony explaining technical skills.
The level of skills that we used were at an agreeable amount, but we could have used more. I think we should have been more creative in our interpersonal skills.
This will be one of my targets for next year.
1) I would like to achieve more creativity in our given task, for example, using idea's that others in my year haven't thought of, or thinking of ways to shock people in my script for my short film. I would like to progress this target throughout year 13.
2) I would like to be more organised in time keeping and with deadlines for blog posts and homework's. I would like to achieve this as I progress through year 13.
3) I don't know how to use Photoshop in it's entirety, so I would like to improve on my Photoshop skills. I would like to achieve this by October half term.
4) Last year my blog was slightly messy, so I would like to make sure my blog is always tidy and always up to date with all my work. This would be a progression of work throughout year 13.
5) I would like to improve on my interpersonal skills, so that when it comes to doing the A2 coursework, I can interact with people easier and more efficiently. I would like to achieve this during our coursework task.

Post 2- Creativity
As a media student, we are expected to be creative in various different ways. Just as creativity explores different parts of your own imaginative mind. Creativity starts with imagination, like thinking of an idea, and then creating it.
To some, creativity is a limitless idea. Linda Naiman said, "Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing." She believes that creativity is all about originality, and that it all comes from a thought. To some theorists, creativity is about being original, but there are some set rules, codes and conventions that are to be stuck to. Robert. E. Fraken said " Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas". To be able to recognise idea's, there must be set rules that an audience can recognise, otherwise some people wouldn't understand your product.
My creativness:
Last lesson our class played a game of consequences to introduce the idea of how creative we can be as individuals. Me and a group of 3 other people created a sentence by writing a sequence of adjectives, verbs and nouns, without knowing what each other had written down, by folding the paper. This is the sentence we created: 'The incredible house hopped the dead Anthony.'
This proved quite tricky with me, as I didn't fully know how to use Photoshop, so at first my picture was a series of pictures, instead of just one. Zak showed me how to use the basics of Photoshop and I eventually created this image.
I enjoyed the game of consequences, as it was a bit random and didn't make total sense. I enjoy expressing my creativity in different ways and creating new idea's that I haven't tried before.
This is my result from this sentence:
I thought this was a good representation of my creativity.
This is the short film clip that Zak, David and I made in 30 minutes. The one instruction we were given was that we needed a pen. First we had the idea that we just have a conversation with Zack and David and the pen would be on the floor in the background, not really being seen. But we chose to change it to this idea. Soon after we realised that this wasn't the better option, but nevertheless showed our creativity.
Independent Study:
For my independent study on creativity, I decided to create a collage made up of pictures that I took myself of nature. The collage has 6 different photographs from a local park, which I took with my Nikon D3000. I took a picture off the internet of a wooded area and created the word 'nature' out of it by cutting out the letters from the picture. The collage also has a a drawing of a leaf in the corner, because I found it appropriate for my topic for creativity.
Nature is a very important subject for me. I tend to find my creativity in natural surroundings, as I believe that they can be beautiful in some cases. This is why I chose to do my independant study work on nature, as I find my creativity and inspiration through nature and naturalistic surroundings.
This is why I believe that my creativity task can be considered creative, because even though many people in the class created a collage, none of them were the same. Everyone's creative item was different, because our idea of creativity is very individualistic.
I feel I have been original, as my topic of photographs in my collage were different to everyone else's. But I have also been appropriate, as a collage is a creative way of expressing creativity.

Post 1- Skills
To be able to recognise the current skills that we have and the skills that we do not posses, we need to define the word 'skills'. We will be applying this knowledge to our A2 course.
Skills:
http://www.soton.ac.uk/~pw/teach/skills/ks.html
wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
www.eqf-reference-nqf.net/terms.aspx
Skills can be used during set tasks given to an individual to complete. Skills can be a certain technique you use or the ability to which you use towards a given task.
Skills are normally determined how well you can complete something to a high standard. Skills require you to be good at something not many people are or how well you can do whatever the skill requires.
In terms of production, skills that are needed are key to a successful short film or opening sequence etc. The skills needed are technical skills, (the skill to work the equipment to make a film), Interpersonal skills (the skills to interact with peers, sharing ideas and organisation) and Cognitive skills (remembering the shot angles and sizes, creating storylines and scripts etc). These 3 skill area's are important in terms of production. (see next blog post for more details!)
